Chester resident Forrest Allen Ryan, 38, has been identified as the man found dead overnight when members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department were called to investigate a crash near the intersection of Kimwood Road Driftwood Court in Arnold.

At around 10:10 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, officers responded to a reported crash involving a black Porsche Cayenne SUV that struck a tree off the road with a man inside and an unoccupied GMC SUV that was parked on the side of the road and appeared to have been involved in a head-on crash.

Ryan was found inside the Porsche suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, and after all attempts were made, he was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The incident is now being investigated by the department's Homicide Department, while the body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Ryan's death.

Investigators made note that the crash and shooting appear to be a targeted attack, not a random act of violence. It is unclear whether the cause of death was the gunshot or crash.

The crash and incident remain under investigation.
